Frequently Asked Questions

"Lanie is such a kind-hearted healer. I have seen her for acupuncture and biomagnetism treatments, and have had a great experience with both. Lanie is a great listener and always addresses all of my concerns thoughtfully as she creates a treatment plan. I highly recommend her!"

FAQs

What is a typical Acupuncture appointment like?

During your appointment Lanie will review your medical history, discuss your goals and primary complaints to prioritize your personalized treatment plan. Treatment will begin with taking pulses, observation of vital signs, and palpation and assessment of any areas of concern. Next, very fine, sterile needles are be inserted and retained in the body for 20-40 mins depending upon the patients needs and treatment plan. During treatment patients rest and listen to music or mediations of their choice and report any notable sensation or feelings at the conclusion of the treatment when Lanie removes the needles and completes any additional assessment or modalities needed.

Needle insertion is painless and many patients who confess anxiety or fear of needles before treatment often wonder aloud at how painless and relaxing acupuncture is!

How should I prepare for appointments?

  1. Eat before your appointment, preferably a light meal 2 to 3 hours before your arrival. Acupuncture works with the Qi in your body and so it is important to fuel your body with adequate food and water before an appointment so that your body is best prepared for treatment.

  2. Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows for easy access to acupuncture points on the lower arms and legs, back and abdomen. Pants that are loose enough to raise above the knee are best.

  3. Turn off or silence all electronic devices and cell phones for the duration of your treatment. It is important to be relaxed and undistracted for the duration of the appointment. We are overstimulated and constantly connected by technology. Let your appointment be a time you body, mind and spirit can rest and harmonize to get the most out of your appointments.

Any post treatment advice?

Drink plenty of room temperature or warming fluids after your appointment and avoid high intensity activities or alcohol consumption for the hours following each treatment. Your practitioner will advise you with any more specific post-treatment recommendations as needed.
